CIRCA Episode 11 – Kakubo in
conversation with Chico Conejo
NSNS‚ Circa challenges a deeper immersion of the invited artist’s universe in this season, recording inside their environment in a studio visit and a 2-hour show with music and talking. By that perspective, I chose to present in Live P.A. sessions of unreleased tracks and old releases that are important to my history to showcase my creative process, tools and my search in music.

With a background ranging from electroacoustic music studies, analog avant-techno productions and straight-up beat-driven dancefloor mutations, the São-Paulo based Brazilian artist Kakubo distills anything from headbanging industrial sounds, warped electro, power noise, drum & bass and jungle rave cuts to piercing global percussive rhythms. Through a highly inventive splicing together of varied intoxicating rhythms and timbres that cut across club genres, Kakubo is on course to carving her own unique style in the contemporary dance music scene. Her still short-lived but already considerable music forays have seen her perform at important events such as RedBull Music Academy Festival line up a series of soon-to-be-released EP’s on RHR’s Gowpe, 40% Foda/Maneirissimo and Tormenta besides having collaborated with noted producers Badsista, Valesuchi and RHR.
Kakubo is represented by MAMBA NEGRA, a queer electronic music party/label and booking agency known for occupying neglected urban spaces and for propelling the fights for feminine representability and sexual and gender freedom
